Meet Larry LaGrotta
One of these statements about Larry LaGrotta is not
true. Can you tell which one?
1. He retired after serving 20 years in the United States Air
Force.
2. He lives on a golf course with Hady, his new bride of nearly
10 years.
3. He is an excellent golfer and considered playing professionally.
4. He has a 5 pound Chihuahua named Typhoon.
| In 1998, Larry retired after serving 20 years with the
United States Air Force. Traveling around the world in defense
of our country was a rewarding experience that ultimately
gave him a deeper understanding and appreciation for living
in the United States. His military career started in Tampa
as a military police officer. From there, he deployed to
Egypt to guard airplanes in the desert. “That was
a wake up call… I remember thinking, The recruiter
never said anything about living in a desert.” |
 |
After Egypt, Larry went into Command and Control Technician,
a change which resulted in Larry working with our nation’s
most sensitive military secrets, and culminated in supervising
a command center capable of executing our nuclear arsenal.
“Stuff like that keeps you up at night. It’s
scary when you think about the destructive power at our
fingertips.”
 |
While in the military, Larry traveled to Germany,
Italy, Malta, Bermuda, Alaska, and Japan on business
and actually lived in Florida, England, California,
Massachusetts, and Korea, with a 90 day deployment
to the deserts of Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield.
His reward was his final assignment to Hawaii where
he met his wife, Hady. Then he retired. “Hey,
twice was enough; they weren’t going to send
me to the desert again!” |
|
After years of moving from one place to another with the military, Larry was ready to lay down roots in a comfortable yet familiar spot. Larry’s parents and much of his family have lived and worked in Ormond Beach for a long time. This beachfront community on Florida’s east coast was a natural choice. “Hady and I really enjoy Ormond Beach. It affords us the best of what we loved about Hawaii, plus all the opportunities of living on the mainland.”
The real estate business was also a good fit for Larry. “My family has been in real estate for years. I decided to get in on the action and try my hand at the business. At 39, I was still a little young for full-time retirement.” Larry’s military background makes him an excellent REALTOR® with an eye for detail and a “can do” attitude.
Larry enjoys frequenting the area’s great restaurants,
attending cultural and special events, shopping, and taking
on home improvement projects. Larry, Hady and their five-pound Chihuahua, Typhoon, live in
a golf course community where Larry and Hady hope to start
golfing again. “In the past, we never got serious about golf, but always enjoyed it even if we didn’t keep score. Now, looking at the golf course every day may motivate us to find more time to play.”
What does the future hold? “The success of The Castle Group is a reflection of personal dedication, hard work, and a team effort to offer the best in real estate services to the luxury home market. Building our business one client at a time has been our strategy and we are continuing in that direction. When I ended my ‘retirement’, I promised myself that I would only work in my new career as long as I was having fun. Life too short not to enjoy your time at work. I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing!”
