When Jerry Bellairs graduated from the University of Illinois
back in the ‘60’s, he found himself with a college
degree, a wife and two kids. Deciding that an MBA would only
help his professional life – whatever that may turn out
to be – he got one from the University of Chicago. “Two
kids... still in school, no job...it was interesting –and
great because I got to spend so much time while they were young”
Degrees in hand, he signed on with Arthur Young & Company,
a public accounting firm. One of his assignments as a Young
Accountant was auditing the books of the Associated Coca-Cola
Bottling Company, in Daytona Beach, Florida. “It was the
best job you could imagine – 2-3 months in Daytona every
winter, with my family, on the beach...beat the heck out of
winter in Chicago!”
